Astana International Financial Center presented concept of development of the green financial system in Kazakhstan. The financial system aims to issue green bonds which will help realize important social and environmental projects. As the governor of AIFC Kairat Kelimbetov stressed, green finance will become one of the strategic directions of the center's activities. According to analysts, today the world market of green bonds is one of the fastest growing with an average of 40-50% per year. According to the AIFC, the first green bonds in Kazakhstan can be issued till the end of this year.

AIDAR KAZYBAYEV, MANAGING DIRECTOR, AIFC:
- We start developing a strategy for regional leadership of AIFC in the field of green finance. There is no financial center in the world which positioned itself as the center of gravity of the green finance. We must create opportunities for SMEs and financial institutions to have a green bond market. If an investor wants his or her funds or finances to be directed specifically at supporting environmental projects like energy efficiency, waste disposal, green transportation with a decrease in CO2, then he or she is aware about the opportunity to issue or become the investor of green bonds.

International experts who took part in the conference highlighted the global investors’ interest in Kazakhstan’s green economy and developed recommendations for stimulating this industry. The specialists also highly appreciated the key role of AIFC in the establishment of a platform for responsible investments on the country’s territory.
