The Astana International Financial Center plans to join the world's top 30 financial centers during 15-20 years. According to the AIFC’s governor, Kairat Kelimbetov, the first five years will be spent on the financial institution's effort to reach its designed capacity. Moreover, during the five years it is planned to achieve self-sufficiency. Thanks to the AIFC’s work, the country will attract US$3-5 billion. According to preliminary forecasts, it is planned to attract US$40 billion in 10 years. The AIFC has already started its work. The International Arbitration Center and the court of the AIFC began their activities. In addition, the center's exchange was created, which with the Samruk-Kazyna Fund is preparing for the privatization of some companies.

- In accordance with the Samruk-Kazyna Fund’s plans, it is considered to privatize the companies like Air Astana, Kazakhtelecom and Kazatomprom in the fourth quarter. In the first half of the year, there will be corresponding investment conferences or Investor Days, which are also called road shows. We are planning to hold the events in the largest financial centers of Singapore and Shanghai. We also plan certain presentations in Europe and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Kairat Kelimbetov noted that the U.S. investment bank, Goldman Sachs and the Silk Road Fund, which is the lead agency for implementing the One Belt and One Road Initiative, showed interest in buying a share in the stock exchange under еру AIFC. He highlighted that if it is successful, the purchase will be the first major investment of the Fund in Kazakhstan since its inception. Furthermore, according to the center's governor, today other international players are showing increased interest in the AIFC.
