The two days forum for the representatives of the coal mining sector under the theme “Coal Mongolia-2015” started on Thursday. It has been organized for the 5th time with support from the Government of Mongolia, mining.mn site and Erdes Mongol Corporation.
“COAL MONGOLIA” is an International Conference and Exhibition for Coal Investors. The primary objectives of this event is to bring international investors into the coal mining sector of Mongolia, to introduce the most advanced, environmentally friendly technologies and to create a mutually beneficial partnership.
The event has brought together over 600 local and foreign delegates. The forum focused on a number of important issues such as coal mining sector’s competitiveness, priorities for Mongolia in financing mega projects, opportunities for commercializing coal gasification plant products, duration of the decline in coal market and ways of overcoming this difficult period.
With reserves estimated at 170 billion tons of coal Mongolia is striving to produce and export energy to other countries.
Friday’s session of Coal Mongolia-2015 investors forum was held under the theme “ Energy and gas market-Opportunities for Mongolia”. The opening presentation entitled “New Resources of Energy: Possibilities for export” was given by the Minister of Energy Mr D.Zorigt. He touched upon current situation in the energy sector, its perspectives, investment and legal environment and has outlined measures which have been taken by the Government in the energy sector.
