Astana Opera presented a classical music evening for art connoisseurs. The Chamber Hall hosted the first concert by Kazakhs quintet ‘Kvikonte’. Despite the fact that it is a young ensemble, the performers are recognized instrumentalists, winners of many international competitions. They play on the most complex instruments: oboe, French horn, flute, clarinet and bassoon.

DAMILYA MAHPIROVA, SOLOIST, QUINTET ‘KVIKONTE’:

French horn and oboe are listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Not everyone can master this complex instrument. Of course mainly it used to be played by male performers, but now I see, especially in Kazakhstan, how women play it.

The instrumentalists were joine by their colleagues – singers Dina Khamzina Dean, Tatiana Vitsinskaya, Talgat Musabayev. To the accompaniment of the quintet, they sang the piceces from Bizet, Grieg, and Ligeti.

I am invited to speak at the concert, we certainly support them, because after all, the orchestra and the soloists, we are always together. I hope that this will be interesting, I would even say – a great concert for the audience, because here they will hear the masterpieces and hits.

The youn team chose the concert program very carefully. The artists performed for the metropolitan audience not only the original compositions for the quintet, but also interesting interpretations of the popular orchestral pieces, and opera arias. So, one of the surprises for the audience was the premiere of the Kazakh instrumental work by Bakhtiar Kusainova titled the Promenade. The quintet has big plans to delight its fans and art connoisseurs in the nearest future.
