MONTSAME National News Agency in cooperation with the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery is presenting a series of Mongolian fine art masterpieces. This time, we are presenting a painting ‘Stallion Fight’ by O.Tsevegjav, twice State Prize Laureate of former Mongolian People’s Republic, People’s Painter, State Honored Cultural Figure and Painter of the 20th Century of Mongolia.
Artist O.Tsevegjav had worked on ‘Stallion Fight’ for over a decade and completed in 1958. Using oil painting, the artist could vividly demonstrate the fight and clash among animals. Moreover, the artist drew rays of the setting sun on the chests of stallions, which clearly shows the superb movement of the stallions.
Although a focus of the painting is two stallions, the painter included some distinctive details such as a mare that running away from the fight, a foal following a mother and a man in blue Deel who held lasso in his hand while riding a brown horse.
In addition, Youth Association of Dornod aimag initiated to recreate the painting as a statue in the aimag with a purpose to immortalize the painting.
