Last year, the Citizens’ Representatives Khural of the Capital City adopted a "Friendly Ulaanbaatar" program. The program will be implemented in three stages in accordance with the General Plan of Ulaanbaatar’s Development until 2020, Document on Development Perspective until 2030.
The program aims to attract two million tourists to Ulaanbaatar and to increase a percentage of tourism in the city’s economy to 20 percent by 2020.
Within the program, first classic Mongolian opera "The Three dramatic characters" was performed on Friday at the Chingis Khaan Square or in the open air for the first time.
The opera in three acts and five episodes was written in the 1940s by B.Damdinsuren and B.Smirnoff.  It was performed in 1934 as a drama piece and in 1942 as a musical play.
Until today, "The Three dramatic characters" has been played 2415 times.
The organizers of this open-air event have asked Mongolians to attend the opera in a national costume – deel and foreign guests - in their national costumes or in Mongolian national dresses.
