The 19th conference of the Energy sector coordinating committee took place in Ulaanbaatar, 30th and 31st of March. The conference was attended by officials from energy ministries and agencies representing 10 member countries of CAREC /Central Asian regional economic partnership program/ and representatives of 7 international organizations.
The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation, or CAREC, is a partnership of 10 countries supported by 6 multilateral institutions, working together to promote development through cooperation, leading to accelerated growth and poverty reduction.
Participants at the conference have discussed updates on the deliverables of the Energy Work Plan (EWP) 2013-2015 and initial steps for the formulation of the Energy Work Plan 2016-2020.
They have paid more attention on the maintenance of the trading of energy by establishing an energy network system. Within this framework, during the last 10 years, 33 projects with total cost of 4.2 billion USD have been carried out for maintaining regional energy trade issues and the creation of a regional network.
The specialists have also discussed in detail, the main four sectors of the economic cooperation program, the transportation sector and the alleviation of issues of trade, trade policy and strategy to be carried out by 2020.
