A conference hall in World Bank’s headquarters in Washington was named in honor of a Kazakh woman. Alma Ourazalinova became the first Kazakh woman who conquered the main international financial center. They highly appreciate her work and her great contribution to the organization’s development. Alma Ourazalinova is well known in America, Great Britain, India, Singapore and Japan.

JANE CLEMENT, WORLD BANK STAFF MEMBER:
- I have known Alma for about 20 years. We’ve worked together on various projects throughout the years but more than a professional relationship we were just dear friends.

A graduate of Moscow State University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology was an irreplaceable employee of the World Bank. She was responsible for the major projects. Ourazalinova was remarkable for erudition and knowledge. She passed away two years ago after a serious illness. Colleagues of Alma Ourazalinova note her amazing modesty, kindness and mercy. She had fully devoted herself to work even during the illness.

JANE CLEMENT, WORLD BANK STAFF MEMBER:
- We still feel her presence on a regular basis and so we named the conference room after her.

OLYMPIA AJINO, WORLD BANK STAFF MEMBER:
- I also worked with Alma for over 12 years. She is still a very much part of this syndication family and IFC. She was of course an outstanding professional.

ZAURE SCHWADE, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ANALYST, WORLD BANK:
- She was irreplaceable in the sphere. She was really talented in finance and mathematics. She was even performing some mathematical calculations when she was sick. It was a relaxation for her. Alma was a unique person, an excellent professional.

Colleagues call Alma the pioneer. She was the first who decided to build relationships with new banks, and implement complex projects in developing countries. The World Bank's staff still remembers her love for the Motherland. Alma Ourazalinova conference hall is now the place where important decisions are made to support the countries in need, which means that the mission of our compatriot is continuing.
