An annual meeting of the leaders of East Asian Red Cross and Red Crescent was organized in Ulaanbaatar on June 22-24th.
The meetings, held every year in one of the regional countries, were attended by delegates from Japan, South and North Korea, China and Mongolia.
This year’s theme was “Improving regional cooperation and innovation in international humanitarian actions”.
2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Statutory. This year’s meeting is special for having adopted a general declaration by the East Asian leaders. The declaration assured the support of Red Cross and Red Crescent movements to aid the humanitarian activities by individuals, public and governments. The national communities have vowed to collaborate within the East Asian partnership in order to build more disciplinary, far-sighted, financially stable and strong humanitarian communities.
