The Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Online Freedom Coalition began on Monday at the State House. The leaders of the information technology sector have touched upon important matters under the topics “Internet Policy: Best practices in promoting online freedom”, and “Liberal and Reliable Internet communication, Electronic technology development and transparency, Individual privacy in online environment and transparency”.
The conference lasted for two days and was attended by 300 national and foreign delegates representing the world’s leading communication companies such as Google, Mozilla, Twitter and research institutes and civil societies including the UNESCO, the UNICEF, the Asia Foundation, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Digital Partners Global and other public and private organizations.
A survey made by “Silk Road” foundation shows that about two million people use internet in Mongolia. Results of the survey on legal environment on internet freedom in Mongolia was presented on the first day of the conference. According to the survey, 90.2 percent of all internet-users live in Ulaanbaatar.
