The state head of Mongolia Mr Elbegdorj Tuesday received Mr Peter Maurer, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in the State House.
Mr Elbegdorj said he appreciates the humanitarian assistance and aid delivering by the International Committee of the Red Cross to people in countries affected by wars and conflicts.
In response, Mr Maurer said the International Committee of the Red Cross is an independent and neutral organization that protects people affected by conflicts or other kinds of violence and gives aid to them.
The President said Mongolia is taking part in peacekeeping operations in South Sudan and Afghanistan to give support to people of these countries.
He also emphasized that the “Khaan Quest” international exercises are a part of the actions aimed at supporting international humanitarian actions and contributing to the realization of legal documents on humanity. He noted that the Red Cross Society of Mongolia closely cooperates with the ICRC.
