Azerbaijan`s state oil firm (SOCAR) has today launched a new offshore stationary platform No. 6 at Bulla-deniz field.

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev and other senior managers of the company attended the launch ceremony.

Rovnag Abdullayev first met with employees working here and congratulated them on the opening of the platform.

The project of the platform, whose construction started in 2014, was developed by SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Research and Design Institute. The construction work on the first launch complex was carried out by the Oil and Gas Construction Trust.

The platform, which is designed for drilling one searching and three operation wells, was installed at a depth of 19-20 meters in the sea. A total area of the platform, consisting of residential and production sections, is 5,350 square meters. A helicopter landing pad, 10 berths and four squadrons were installed here. The platform was provided with three stationary lifting cranes of 4-28 tons of loading capacity, three rescue boats for 42 people, nine rescue rafts for 10 people, biological water treatment plant, sea water desalination plant, ventilation, heating and cooling and fire extinguishing systems, control and measurement devices as well as other necessary equipment.

SOCAR President Abdullayev, who spoke to drillers, said special attention was paid to the expansion of production and exploration work as part of the comprehensive measures taken in order to fulfill the tasks set by President Ilham Aliyev.

He also highlighted the importance of the new platform in terms of maintaining and increasing the production in the “Bulla-deniz” field. “We will continue the measures to expand the production and transport infrastructure and improve the country’s oil and gas sector,” the President of SOCAR added.
