UNDP launched a global discussion through which people can help shape the future development agenda after 2015.

The MDGs consisting of eight goals supported by 18 targets and 48 indicators have been implementing since 2000 focusing the efforts of the world community on achieving significant improvements in people's lives by the year 2015

A new global agenda which is called Sustainable Development Goals that will succeed the MDGs was discussed at the consultation under the theme “The role of statistics in global tendencies” organized by the United Nations Representative Office in Mongolia. People all over the world is now discussing the 17 goals and 169 targets of the Sustainable Development Goals that could change the world by 2030.

For the moment, more than 4000 mongolian nationals had cast their votes for the future sustainable development agenda.

/During the recent discussions about the transition from Millennium Development Goals to Sustainable Development Goals voters can raise on a broad scale all the vital social problems as well as environmental issues.
The discussion on the SDGs will be carried out under the motto “SDGs for every country and for every person”/

Over the last 15 years Mongolia has achieved certain progress in reducing infant, maternal mortality and encouraging high quality education
However, Mongolia still faces many challenges in achieving the other MDGs such as reducing poverty, increasing employment, protecting the environment and improving governance. The Government needs to make more efforts to meet the targets of the MDGs that are lagging behind.
