The UN welcomes Kazakhstan’s anti-nuclear initiatives and the opening of the International Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) Bank. This was discussed at the meeting in Geneva by international experts, scientists and diplomats. Specialists highlight that the opening of the LEU bank is an important step to the peaceful use of the atom. Negotiations on signing the Treaty on the cessation of the production of fissile materials will start soon. All the waste materials will be handed over to the general uranium depository. According to experts, this will help prevent the risk of nuclear terrorism.

Kazakhstan made its anti-nuclear initiatives part of the country's image. The opening of the IAEA low-enriched uranium bank shows Kazakhstan's leadership in the field of nuclear non-proliferation. Kazakhstan's contribution to a nuclear-free world was discussed at a briefing in Moscow. According to experts, the opening of such a bank was made possible due to the high international reputation of the republic, as well as the experience in the field of non-proliferation.

- Such bank was created in order for states to abandon the idea of building up uranium enrichment capacity in their territories, for the countries that cannot develop nuclear energy themselves had the opportunity to receive materials on the international market and get it under control from one bank under the auspices of the IAEA.
