Looking back at the history, the woolen textile factory was established in Mongolia for the first time in 1934.
A big enterprise for processing sheep wool and producing woolen cloth had been worked in the country until the 2000s. It produced many types of woolen products and supplied to the domestic market as well as exported to such countries as the Soviet Union, Hungary, Czech, Romania, Germany and North Korea etc.,
To focus on Mongolian wool procurement the Government of the country promotes buying sheep wool mostly by the national producers, thus decreasing an export of raw wools.
Currently almost 20-years' recession of wool processing industry has stopped.
“Mogol Wool” company that established several years ago its factory for sheep wool spinning in town of Zuunmod - center of Central aimag neighboring with the capital city of Ulaanbaatar is now going to produce woolen cloth soon.
At the moment of its foundation or in 1996, “Mogol Wool” company was running activities on wool processing only by washing and combing, also manufacturing some kind of goods using a little amount of wool bought from local herders. As time goes on, scale of company's activity was more diversified with help and investment of Republic of Korea.
The wool-spinning factory with 80 employees has a capacity to process 2 tonnes of wool a day.
The company also established factory for woolen cloth based on its wool spinning capacity. As a result it could create 600 new jobs.
Sewing industry of Mongolia imports clothing materials totally worth of about MNT 60 billion a year for running its production. "Mogol Wool" company's new factory gives an opportunity to reduce on imports.
