Political life in Mongolia is very active these days. Civil society organizations have demanded that the government cabinet should be resigned. The opposition force at parliament, the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) also organized a demonstration, supporting the demand from the civil society organizations.
A member of parliament Ms G.Uyanga carried out on Monday in the central square a peaceful demonstration with chairs, which is called “One day in Mongolia”. She is an initiator of the movement on demanding the government pledges, and has been serving as the people’s voice against improper actions of politicians. She is also one of the few MPs elected from civil society organizations. The demonstration organized by her aimed to hear citizens’ views and requests on urgent problems to the society instead of focusing on a specific political body.
G.Uyanga: To briefly say, I arrange this demonstration in order to frankly discuss and expose current problems to the society and life of people. We intend to exchange our views about key reasons of the problems and ways of correcting them.
Previous demonstrations were not carried out with chairs in that way. It provided people with a chance to share their views and discuss problems, sitting on the chairs.
G.Uyanga: The opposition force has to be cleaned from inside instead of blaming someone who is doing worthless political actions. The main reason of many problems in people’s life was caused by them. It is meaningless to demand under name of people the cabinet to resign that is attempting to correct previous mistakes. We are just conveying our voice to people to make our society healthy.
During the 2-day demonstration, a member of parliament Ms Uyanga will deliver people’s requests and opinions to the governmental authorities. She accepted over 2,000 letters from people on complaints and requests within an adjournment of the parliamentary session.
