Today on September 22, MONTSAME National News Agency opened the exhibition, ‘MONTSAME-100’, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of reporting its first news story abroad under the name of ‘MONTA’ Mongolian Telegraph Agency.

At the exhibition, Director-General of MONTSAME News Agency, Honored Cultural Figure of Mongolia B.Ganchimeg gave opening remarks, “This year marks the 100th anniversary of many organizations and institutions in Mongolia. During the time, one of the organizations to first be established was MONTSAME National News Agency. Alongside being successful in our works, we made technological renovations for our 100th anniversary. We hereby present various historical documents and photography from our archives and collections on the occasion of the anniversary. I extend my gratitude to the National Museum of Mongolia for co-organizing the exhibition.”

At the exhibition, newspapers and publications being published in Mongolian, English, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese as well as Mongolian script have been presented. Furthermore, the apparatus and machinery once used to transmit news electronically, anniversary medals and badges issued by MONTSAME News Agency, ‘The Golden Rule of MONTSAME’, and various cameras and equipment used by photographers throughout the years are being presented to the public.

Other interesting exhibits include the stationary used by generations of journalists, such as the typewriter and pen that used to be used by former Deputy Director of MONTSAME News Agency E.Tumenjargal who previously as Editor-in-chief and Moscow correspondent for the agency.

Since being initially established as ‘MONTA’ Mongolian Telegraph Agency in 1921, MONTSAME National News Agency has consistently run operations and served as a trustworthy news source, alongside promoting Mongolia to the world. Aside from its newspapers and magazines, the agency publishes the booklets, ‘MONTSAME Daily News’ and ‘MONTSAME Novosti’ in English and Russian.

MONTSAME News Agency runs its operations with correspondents in the capital city and 21 aimags (provinces) as well as the cities of Moscow and Beijing. It should also be noted that MONTSAME News Agency is a member of Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), and exchanges news and information with other international agencies on a daily basis.
