A consortium of ‘Nickel Ganbaa’ LLC, ‘Petrovis’ LLC and Khasbank is to implement ‘UBIKE’ project to offer bike rental service to Ulaanbaatar residents.
It has been proved by experiences of foreign countries that bike rental service is a concrete activity towards reducing traffic jam, air pollution and improving health of citizens. The Governor’s Office of the capital city is working on expanding bike lanes in the city and launching ‘Bike rental service’ in compliance with international standards to realize ‘Bike lanes’ sub program, reflected in 2016-2020 action plan of the Governor of capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar.
Mayor S.Batbold announced an open tender in March, 2017 on implementing ‘UBIKE’ project and the consortium, the bid winner established an agreement to implement the project on April 24.
Director of “Nickel Ganbaa” LLC G.Dashnyam said that the company produces bicycle frame and ensembles in Mongolia and it is one of the reasons the consortium won the tender.
‘UBIKE’ project will be implemented in three stages by the consortium of ‘Nickel Ganbaa’ LLC, ‘Petrovis’ LLC and Khasbank. They are planning to have 2000 bikes and 150 bike parking spaces for the rental service in 2018-2020. The consortium noted that bikes will be made in Mongolia in compliance with international standards and smart payment and checking systems will be introduced, fully ensuring citizens’ safety.
The bike rent price will be MNT 500 per half an hour and MNT 800 per hour.
