“Azerbaijan`s improving image creates favourable opportunities for it to develop information exchange with foreign countries,” Director General of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc) Aslan Aslanov has told British Ambassador in Baku Irfan Siddiq.
Mr. Aslanov said: “AzerTAc as the national news agency is willing to take advantage of this opportunity.” The Director General said Azerbaijan “has become a venue for international political, humanitarian and sport events”.
Mr. Aslanov provided an insight into AzerTAc`s history and achievements, adding the agency has bilateral agreements with national news agencies of more than 40 countries.
“This increases our responsibility as an accurate and reliable source of news.”
He stressed the importance of social media, saying national news agencies “should take advantage of the opportunities of social media to enhance the geography of the spread of their news”.
He hailed “close’ relations between AzerTAc and British Press Association. “We have sincere and friendly relations with CEO of Press Association Clive Marshall.” “Mr. Marshall made an important contribution to the Baku meeting of the News Agencies World Council (NACO) hosted by AzerTAc earlier this year. He also visited the regions of Azerbaijan during his stay in the country.”
Ambassador Siddiq said historically friendly relations existed between Azerbaijan and Great Britain.
He said Azerbaijan has reached a new level of development. The Ambassador said British energy companies are interested in making investment in Azerbaijan. Mr. Siddiq said he is ready to contribute to developing relations with Azerbaijan in the fields of trade and education during his diplomatic tenure.
He also stressed the importance of developing relations between the two countries in the field of information. Mr. Siddig expressed his readiness to contribute to the development of cooperation with AzerTAc.
