President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj said it during a meeting on Friday with Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), who is taking part here in the 11th ASEM Summit, the president’s website published.

At the beginning of the meeting, the German Chancellor acknowledged Mongolia for successfully hosting the ASEM Summit. She discussed with the President on results of the parliamentary elections recently held in Mongolia and current economic situation.

President Elbegdorj highlighted that the ASEM Summit held every two years and therefore, an ASEM member state has the only opportunity to host the Summit once in a century.

When talking about the elections of both parliament and the Citizens’ Representative Khural (Council) of the capital city, Elbegdorj said the elections utilized electronic voting machines. The results were announced in only 30 minutes after closing the polling stations and mentioned that Mongolia is sharing democratic experiences with Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and other countries, he said.

The dignitaries exchanged views on expanding the mutual relations between Mongolia and Germany, enriching economic cooperation and touched upon a broad scope of issues concerning regional and international affairs.
