At the event, being co-organized by the Government of Mongolia and UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) Regional Office for Asia and Pacific, Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin and UNISDR Chief of Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific Ms Loretta Hieber Girardet delivered opening speeches.
synch: In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin said, ”Mongolia supports UNISDR’s campaign ‘Making cities resilient’, which aims to reduce disaster risks in urban places and ensure their sustainable development. We are working to develop disaster resilient and risk-sensitive urban planning as Mongolia is the first Asian country joined its all aimag centers and cities in the campaign.”
Moreover, greetings of Ms Mami Mizutori, Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Disaster Risk Reduction were conveyed to the participants.

The participants convened to exchange views on preparations and firm up the agenda of the 2018 Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) to be held in Ulaanbaatar on July 3-9, 2018.

During the forum, representatives of the countries will report how they implemented Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction /DRR/ and the Asia Regional Plan, approved during the previous Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction /AMCDRR/ held in India. In addition, plenary sessions on challenges in Disaster Risk Reduction, progress and achievements will be organized.
