Nursultan Nazarbayev's official visit to the United States brought a strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level. The two presidents discussed possibilities of expanding trade and investment as well as creating new jobs. There is a mutual interest in energy, aviation and engineering as well as cooperation in technology. Approximately 20 agreements were signed worth US$7 billion in these and other areas. American experts highly appreciate the activities of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. They believe that the new agreements between the two countries will allow Kazakhstan to diversify its economy.

DANIEL RUNDE, DIRECTOR, PROJECT ON PROSPERITY AND DEVELOPMENT, CENTER FOR STRATEGIC AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES:
- The United States needs to be doing a lot more in deeper partnership with Kazakhstan. It was very important that president Nazarbayev came to the United States so that we could begin to build the other deeper partnership. Over the last several US administrations starting from President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, there has been a growing partnership between the United States and Kazakhstan. We need yet the deeper partnership between Kazakhstan and the US.

According to Heritage Foundation foreign policy director Luke Coffey, the meeting between Donald Trump and Nursultan Nazarbayev shows that the relations between the two countries have reached a qualitatively new level. The expert also highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s activities as the Chairman of the UN Security Council and the way to resolve the Afghan issue.

LUKE COFFEY, DIRECTOR, HERITAGE FOUNDATION FOREIGN POLICY:
- I think Kazakhstan is a natural partner for the US in central Asia. We share so many of the same challenges and we also have so many of the same opportunities as well. So I hope that this is a first step in what can be very enduring relationship.
