Baku, July 18 (AzerTAc). Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Tsuguo Takahashi has today visited the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc) to discuss ways of enhancing the two countries` relations in the field of information.
Director General of AzerTAc Aslan Aslanov noted the role of the media, particularly national news agencies, in developing relations between the two countries and people.
He provided an insight into AzerTAc`s history and achievements, as well as the agency`s role in ensuring the government`s information policy.
Mr. Aslanov said AzerTAc had excellent relations with Japanese Kyodo News, adding the two agencies had been cooperating within international news organizations.
He said Baku would host the 16th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and the 5th News Agencies World Congress in Baku in 2016, adding AzerTAc would chair these two organizations.
The AzerTAc Director General emphasized the importance of cooperation of the national agencies in terms of expanding partnership between Azerbaijan and Japan in the field of information.
Mr. Aslanov pointed to an agreement on exchange of information between AzerTAc and Kyodo News, saying the two agencies maintained successful cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
The Director General highlighted what had been done to promote news about Azerbaijan’s socio-political life in Japan, stressing AzerTAc`s cooperation with Japanese Jiji Press agency, WorldInvesters TV internet television, and other media organizations.
They hailed Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev’s contribution to the establishment of Azerbaijan-Japan diplomatic ties. He said Azerbaijan became one of the most rapidly developing countries due to successful foreign policy of President Ilham Aliyev.
Mr. Aslanov praised the importance of the annual Baku International Humanitarian Forum, saying president of the Kyodo News was officially invited to the Forum.
Ambassador Takahashi hailed development in Azerbaijan as rapid, noting the role of the national news agencies in strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador said Japan paid special attention to the cooperation with Azerbaijan on all fronts, and highlighted the projects carried out by the Japanese government in Azerbaijan’s regions under Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme.
The ambassador also praised the cooperation between AzerTAc and Japanese news agencies.
He also underlined the significance of boosting the cooperation between Japan and Azerbaijan in humanitarian and cultural fields.
