Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev receives British lords
Baku, June 5 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received a delegation of members of the UK House of Lords, including Lord Mohamed Iltaf Sheikh, Lord Kamlesh Kumar Patel, Lord Hugh John Maxwell Dyke and Richard John Grenville Spring, Lord Risby.
Lord Mohamed Iltaf Sheikh praised the Azerbaijan-UK cooperation, describing it as excellent in the political, economic and energy fields. He expressed confidence the cooperation between the two countries would broaden in the future. Lord Sheikh stressed the importance of BP`s activity in Azerbaijan, adding the UK was interested in expanding business cooperation with Azerbaijan in addition to cultural collaboration.
The Azerbaijani President mentioned his meeting with British Premier David Cameron on the sidelines of NATO Summit in Chicago, saying they had a fruitful discussion on the issues related to the bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev said the relations between Azerbaijan and the UK had rich history. He stressed the importance of economic cooperation, in particular in energy sector and investment making.
The Azerbaijani leader emphasized the significance of the 19th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition Incorporating Refining and Petrochemicals, which got underway in Baku.
He said BP was one of Azerbaijan`s major partners, adding the two countries were successfully cooperating not only in the field of energy, but also in other branches of economy.
