Baku, April 10 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received newly appointed NATO Assistant Secretary General Sorin Ducaru.
Sorin Ducaru conveyed NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen`s greetings to the Azerbaijani President.
Saying NATO and Azerbaijan have been partners for 20 years, Sorin Ducaru stressed the importance of developing the bilateral relations.
He said he was in Baku to join celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Partnership for Peace Programme and attend information days to be held under the Science for Peace and Security Programme.
President Ilham Aliyev recalled his meetings and discussions at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, hailing them as a success.
The President said Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation had long history, expressing confidence the partnership between the country and the organization will continue in different areas, particularly in energy and Afghanistan-related issues.
President Ilham Aliyev asked Sorin Ducaru to extend his greetings to NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
