Azerbaijani President receives President and Secretary General of General Confederation of Trade Unions
Baku, July 3 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received President of the General Confederation of Trade Unions Mikhail Shmakov and Secretary General Vladimir Scherbakov.
President of the General Confederation of Trade Unions Mikhail Shmakov praised close relations and active cooperation between the Azerbaijani leadership and trade unions.
Mikhail Shmakov said each time they visited Azerbaijan they witnessed development processes and positive changes in the country. He said they discussed Azerbaijan`s experience and achievements under President Ilham Aliyev at the General Confederation of Trade Unions` sessions.
He said President Ilham Aliyev was honored with the honorary golden badge of the GCTU for his contribution to the trade union movement.
Shmakov presented the award to the Head of State.
Secretary General of the GCTU Vladimir Scherbakov hailed relations between the government bodies and trade unions in Russia and Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev said he was happy to receive the honorary golden badge of the GCTU, describing it as the recognition of high-level cooperation among the government bodies and trade unions in Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev noted the main objective of Azerbaijan was to improve social conditions of people and strengthen the country`s economy even more.
The President said relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were developing successfully in all fields, in particular political, economic and cultural ones.
The Azerbaijani leader noted the two countries` relations were based on strategic partnership, strong historical roots and humanitarian cooperation. President Ilham Aliyev described the activity of the Slavic University, Russian language schools, Russian Cultural Center, Baku branch of the Moscow State University, as well as the construction of the administrative building of the Baku and Azerbaijani Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church as an example of cooperation in this field.
The Head of State expressed confidence bilateral relations between the two countries would continue to expand.
