Baku, April 20 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today opened a new runway at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, inspected reconstruction in the old airport passenger terminal and construction progress of the new complex.
The Head of State viewed a stand featuring a general plan of the Heydar Aliyev International Aiport`s reconstruction, new runway, taxi tracks and a ramp.
President of AZAL Jahangir Asgarov informed President Ilham Aliyev on the new runway, taxi tracks and a ramp.
The Head of State cut a ribbon symbolizing opening of the new runway.
Azerbaijan`s President inspected reconstruction work in the terminal and construction of the new complex.
The Head of State was told that the aim of the project is to improve services related to passenger and cargo transportation, bring the security of air flights in line with the world standards. The complex is expected to welcome three million passengers a year.
The four-storey complex with a total area of 58 thousand square meters is expected to serve international flights while the old one handling domestic ones.
