Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc) and Turkish Gazi University will broaden cooperation in training journalists.

The issue was discussed at a meeting between AzerTAc Director General Aslan Aslanov and Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at Gazi University Zakir Afsar.

Mr. Aslanov said Azerbaijan and Turkey “share common culture and historical roots”. “Our countries have always supported each other on the international scale, and this is a real example of brotherhood and friendship.”

The Director General hailed educational cooperation between the two countries. “Azerbaijani youngsters who study at various Turkish universities, including Gazi University, work at different organizations of in the country.”

“Azerbaijani students receive education at the Gazi University, and AzerTAc is ready to cooperate with the university`s Faculty of Journalism in training journalists.”

Zakir Afsar said he was aware of AzerTAc`s achievements both in terms of international relations and news distribution. He hailed the activities of the agency, saying it built its work in accordance with international standards.

Mr Afsar expressed confidence “cooperation with AzerTAc in training professional journalists and organizing joint projects will be fruitful”.

CEO of “Haber7” portal Ibrahim Erdogan, representative of the Turkish Directorate General of Press and Information Mustafa Kemal Dagdelen and press counselor of the Turkish Embassy to Azerbaijan Hamit Karadeniz were present at the event.

The sides hailed cooperation between AzerTAc and Anadolu Agency, and stressed the importance of information exchange between the two agencies.
