A delegation of the Central Communications Office for the President of Kazakhstan led by Erjan Babakumarov visited Azerbaijan’s State News Agency (AZERTAC).

The visit was aimed at learning the experience of AZERTAC in the area of information technologies, public awareness promotion and branding. General Director of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov hailed Azerbaijan-Kazakh ties as close noting the significant progress made by the two countries over the last 24 years.

He highlighted the history of AZERTAC. “In 1918, Azerbaijan was declared the Democratic Republic, making it the first parliamentary republic of the East. Here for the first time in the Muslim East women and men were given equal rights, including the right to vote and freedom of speech. AZERTAC was established on 1 March 1920.”

Aslan Aslanov said Azerbaijan has a diverse range of media providers, numbering 300 newspapers, 20 news agencies and 50 TV channels. “AZERTAC is a member of a number of influential news alliances. From 2016-2019 the agency will chair the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and the News Agencies World Congress.”

According to Aslan Aslanov, the leadership of Azerbaijan promotes the activity of both state and independent media and create all the conditions to stimulate the dynamic work of journalists. He stressed the importance of AZERTAC’s activity is terms of spreading the news through social networks.

The Kazakh delegation expressed desire to study AZERTAC’s experience in information technologies and public awareness promotion.

The sides discussed a range of issues concerning the development of techniques for gathering and disseminating information.
