A non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Equatorial Guinea will continue Kazakhstan’s tradition during its presidency in January 2019. The members of the UN Security Council are noting the Kazakh delegation’s professionalism, rigorousness and effectiveness of their work. The current non-permanent members in the Council include Equatorial Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Peru and Poland. Under the initiative of Kazakhstan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Kairat Umarov, the ceremony of raising the flags of newly elected countries was held for the first time at the UN Security Council. Kazakhstan is presiding over the UN Security Council in January.

- In January the Security Council being chaired by Kazakhstan and it’s adopting the world program. Kazakhstan was congratulated because of equality of a program. Kazakhstan brought innovation of incoming new members with the flag ceremony.
