Kazakhstan is continuing to be a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the second year. The country participates in discussion of world topics at the main site of the international organization. The entire last month the country chaired the Security Council. According to diplomats, the work at an important organization created special demands, which Kazakhstan coped successfully. Kazakhstan held a number of important meetings, including debates at the highest level. President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev announced six measures on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and strengthening of trust between the states. Nursultan Nazarbayev also proposed Kazakhstan as a platform for the settlement of the Korean conflict. A separate meeting was devoted to the situation in Afghanistan and the settlement of conflicts in Syria and Yemen.

- The UN Security Council was supporting Kazakhstan’s initiatives and proposals. Many delegations admitted that Kazakhstan convinced them agree on some statements and adopt some documents. The authority of our President, his ideas and initiatives that unite all nations and show that we truly want to move forward – this helped to achieve incredible results during our presidency. We have accomplished everything we have planned and even generated more ideas than expected.
