Kazakhstan will lead the UN Security Council mission to Afghanistan for the first time in history. The UN representatives will hold meetings not only with the country’s authorities, but also with ordinary residents. It is important for the Council members to learn about the situation on the ground and get a full picture of what the country’s needs and prospects are. The topic of the regional partnership between Afghanistan and Central Asia will be discussed on January 19. On the eve of this debate, one of the most important events will be held: a meeting of high-level members of the UN Security Council on the topic of "Non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction: confidence building measures" chaired by President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. On January 25, the debate will be held on the situation in the Middle East. The republic’s priorities are indicated in the political address of Nursultan Nazarbayev to the UN Security Council "Kazakhstan’s conceptual vision to strengthen global partnership for building a safe, just and prosperous world."
