“I hope the main peculiarity of the first European Games will be hospitality, kindness and festive atmosphere,” said president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, chair of the Organising Committee of the first European Games, Azerbaijan`s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva in an interview with director general of “Russia Today” international news agency Dmitri Kisilyov. The interview was part of a reportage of “Vesti nedeli” program aired on “Russia 1” channel and highlighting the European Games.

The reportage described the Games as another step towards defining Azerbaijan`s place in the international community and testimony to the country`s commitment to European values.

Mehriban Aliyeva said: “We want to demonstrate rich cultural heritage of our country. As you know, Azerbaijan is an ancient land, and multiculturalism and tolerance are typical of our people. I am sure that all guests will feel hospitality, kindness and festive atmosphere. Only two and a half years have been given us for preparations to the Games. Despite the period was too short, we have tried to create maximum comfortable conditions for sportsmen, officials and guests of our capital city to make the Games a real holiday of unity, friendship and sport.”
