The Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyir Erdogan paid an official visit to Mongolia on April 11-12, 2013.
Historically, Mongolia and Turkey have ties from period of the ancient State of Hunnu. Before Chinggis Khaan's era, Hunnu, Uigur and Turgic khaganates inhabited in the territory where Mongolia is now.
In 1969, Mongolia and the Republic of Turkey established diplomatic relations. Since 2004, Mongolia has been supporting the complete partnership relations with Turkey. Today, the countries are striving to bring such relations to the level of strategic partnership.
During the official negotiations held in the Government House of Mongolia the Prime Ministers of two countries agreed on acceleration of multilateral cooperation. For example, the sides decided to develop their cooperation in the field of infrastructure development so as to promote apartment house and paved road construction, re-planning of the capital city's outskirts, leather, wool and cashmere processing, production of ready-made products and tourism sector. As the construction works are intensified in Mongolia, the Prime Minister N.Altakhuyag expressed his interest in experiences of Mr.Erdogan on his successful implementation of housing program “Apartments for 400.000 households” that was realized by him when serving in quality of city' mayor. N.Altankhuyag stressed Mongolia wants to cooperate in implementation of such kind of programs.
The Prime Minister of Turkey said his country is able to give support in introduction of the advanced technology into the energetic sector. The Republic of Turkey is also of the opinion that the high-level visits of the countries to be regularized.
Then, the speaker of Mongolian Parliament, Z.Enkhbold received the Prime Minister of Turkey. At the meeting Mr.Erdogan assured Turkey's desire to bolster further the cooperation in socio-economic sector. He praised the vigorous development of Mongolia, saying Ulaanbaatar was underwent considerable changes in period of 8 years after his first visit to Mongolia in 2005.
Under the resolution of the Government of Turkey, Mongolian citizens with ordinary foreign passports began to travel to Turkey visa-free within 30 days since 2007. This time the Government of Mongolia declared to allow the Turgic people also to travel to the country visa-free. As a result, citizens of two countries will be enjoyed with right on mutual non-visa traveling.
