As part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission (UNMISS), the 5th shift of Mongolian troops which consists of 850 peacekeepers is going to leave for South Sudan at the beginning of August. In this shift, 38 soldiers from all staff in the shift are women.
Besides that, more than 40 per cent of peacekeepers from this contingent have previously participated in UN missions so they big experience
Since 2002, Mongolia  has sent more than 12000 peacekeepers
to participate in UN missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Chad, Sudan, West Sahara, Congo, Ethiopia and Georgia.
