President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj received on Thursday a courtesy call from Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who is on official visit to Mongolia.
The latter congratulated Mongolia on hosting the 11th ASEM Summit and conveyed greetings of Chinese leader Xi Jinping to Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj.
“Mongolia-China relations have reached very high and good level. And these friendly bonds will last consistently regardless of whatever changes may occur in the world”, said the Mongolian President.
Recalling his recent meetings with the Mongolian Parliament Speaker, Mr Li Keqiang noted that the new Prime Minister of Mongolia confirmed that Mongolian foreign policy’s continuity will remain. He said that he is convinced that the upcoming ASEM Summit will come to be a historical event which will lift even more the Mongolia’s reputation in the world.
During the visit, the sides will put great emphasis on realizing the agreements the Mongolian and Chinese leaders reached to, the Chinese Premier stated and recalled his meeting with leaders of the European Union prior to his visit to Mongolia.
President Ts.Elbegdorj said dozens of issues will find their solution and a number of important documents will be signed according to the visit program. There are bilateral agreements signed during the state visit of the President of China to Mongolia in 2014 that provide for bilateral railway cooperation and enable Mongolia to reach international waters through the territory of China. “I believe that the Government of China will focus on mobilizing these works”, highlighted the Mongolian President.
Touching upon an importance of granting international status to four border checkpoints including Gashuunsukhait and Gants mod, the President said resolving infrastructural issues will help forwarding bilateral trade relations.
He also recalled the third meeting of the leaders of Mongolia, China and Russia in Tashkent during which creation of economic corridor was endorsed and noted that the parties reached understanding on holding the next fourth meeting in Ulaanbaatar. With a view to promote trilateral interactions in the economy, trade and other fields, it is possible to set up an Investment think tank in Ulaanbaatar, the President underlined.
