Parliament of Mongolia has appointed Mr Saikhanbileg as prime minister more than two weeks after the government of Altankhuyag was resigned.
A week ago he had replaced Mr Altankhuyag, who was removed from his post for the slowing down of the economic growth. Economic growth in Mongolia slowed to 7 percent during the 9 months of 2014 and foreign direct investment to Mongolia decreased by 70 percent.
New Prime minister who has been nominated by the Democratic Party had promised a way out of economic recession. As he said, the cabinet will focus its main policy into stabilizing the national economy in order to overcome current economic difficulties. Supporting the private sector will be a pillar of this policy, so the cabinet wants to hear businessmen’s opinions about creating proper solutions.
Just after he was appointed as prime minister Mr Saikhanbileg has sent letter of request to establish Coalition government to all the political parties having seats in the parliament.
For the time being, the main opposition force -Mongolian People’s Party has not yet responded to the request. MPP’s conference that starts today will decide whether to join the coalition government.
