President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev meets U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
Baku, June 6 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday, June 6, met with the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
During the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev said the visit testifies friendship and partnership between the two countries.
President Aliyev dwelled on the economic, energy ties as well as the regional cooperation in the field of security between Azerbaijan and the United States.
Mrs. Clinton said she is pleased to be visiting Azerbaijan again and holding discussions with Azerbaijani leader on bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mrs. Clinton also emphasized the importance of the President Ilham Aliyev’s participation in Chicago summit and strategic cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan in many areas.
The U.S. secretary of State also said Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in the region.
The sides also discussed the Armenia - Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh dispute, prospects for energy cooperation and other issues.
After the meeting, on behalf of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a lunch was arranged in honour of Mrs. Hillary Clinton.
