Mongolian delegation led by President of Mongolia Mr Elbegdorj is attending the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting / ASEM / Summit kicked off in Milan, Italy, on October 16. The current Summit is taking place under the theme “Responsible Partnership for Sustainable Growth and Security”.

The State head of Mongolia Mr Elbegdorj attended the opening ceremony of the Summit and made a speech.
In his speech he emphasized that “The 10th ASEM Summit is taking place at an uneasy time when the world is faced with multiple challenges including the spread of ebola outbreak, regional confrontations and the increasing threat of terrorism”.

“The 10th ASEM Summit provides yet another opportunity for the leaders of its member states to discuss, exchange opinions and reach common grounds and positions on this matters of global significance” Mongolian leader has underlined.
The same day, President Elbegdorj, as the coordinator for North and South East Asian countries at the ASEM Meeting, met with President of the European Council Mr Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission Mr Jose Manuel Barroso and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Mr Federica Mogherini to exchange views on issues related to organizing the ASEM Meeting.
After having addressed the Opening Session of the 10th ASEM Summit in Milan, Italy, President Elbegdorj met with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
During the meeting, Ms Merkel congratulated Mongolia for submitting Mongolia’s candidature to host the 11th ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar and said that Germany will render all-around support on the matter.

President Elbegdorj and Chancellor Merkel exchanged views and opinions on issues of mutual interest. Chancellor Merkel confirmed the possibility for Germany to cooperate with Mongolia on the coal liquefaction project.

She stated that she would call the German business entities for expanding their business and trade relations with Mongolia. In this context, Chancellor said she would connect the Siemens Group with Mongolia.
