President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Minister of Economic Development of the Italian Republic Federica Guidi.

Minister Federica Guidi greeted the head of state on behalf of Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Federica Guidi said her visit created a good opportunity to discuss the issues related to the development of the bilateral relations. Stressing the importance of energy sphere in terms of the strengthening of the ties between Azerbaijan and Italy, the Minister informed the President of what had been done in her country on TAP project.

President Ilham Aliyev recalled his meetings with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi during his visit to Rome. The head of state emphasized the significance of the Joint Declaration “On strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Italian Republic”, which was signed by the two countries during his visit, in terms of partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy as well as between Azerbaijan and the European Union. Saying the relations between the wo countries were successfully developing, President Ilham Aliyev underlined the importance of the cooperation in the field of energy security. The head of state touched upon the Southern Gas Corridor project, and noted the significance of joint efforts towards the implementation of TANAP project.

President Ilham Aliyev said he believed that Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to the development of the relations between the two countries.

The parties discussed the issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the fields of agriculture, high technologies, industry and others.

President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the greetings of President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, and asked Federica Guidi to communicate his greetings to the President and Prime Minister of Italy.
