President of Indonesia visits Mongolia
At the invitation of the President of Mongolia Mr. Tsakhia Elbegdorj, the President of Indonesia Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has paid a state visit to Mongolia.
President Elbegdorj and his spouse Kh.Bolormaa welcomed esteemed guest with his spouse on central Sukhbaatar square and paid a respect to the monument to Chinggis Khaan in front of the Government House.
During the state visit, the state heads held an official dialogue and re-affirmed their common aspiration to advance and strengthen democracy at the regional and international level.
The Indonesian side highly evaluated achievements Mongolia has reached in building democratic society and free market economic structure and ensuring the socio-economic development. In its turn, the Mongolian side stressed that Indonesia sets a striking example in Asia by its achievements showed in the sustainable development and economic growth, and effective foreign policy in being one of influential member states of ASEAN.
The two sides agreed to design a short- and mid-term strategic program charted to define further cooperation resources and feasibilities and to foster trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Indonesian leader Mr. Yudhoyono also met with representatives of the Mongolian civil society to share Indonesian experience in promoting democracy institutions and values.
