The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces (MAF) Ts.Elbegdorj has phoned Colonel B.Erdenebat, commander of the 3rd contingent of the MAF that is serving in peacekeeping operations in South Sudan, and heard a report on a current situation in South Sudan and on the service of the Mongolian peacekeepers.
The President congratulated the UN peacekeepers on rescuing staff members of a Russian oil company including people from Russia, Kenya and South Sudan in north of Bentiu city on April 14, and rendering to them medical aid. Then he wished the military personnel big success in peacekeeping operations. After hearing the report from the contingent's commander, the President gave to him some directions.
Due to inter-clan conflicts have become strained, many civilians have fled their country and are suffering from hunger and other various problems. Many of these people are seeking the refuges under the Mongolian peacekeepers in the country, and it means that the Mongolian peacekeepers are required now to be more aware and be organized toughly, Mr Elbegdorj emphasized. He obliged the contingent commander to constantly give report on the current situation by closely cooperating with the South Sudan's Forces and the UN force command within its authority. Moreover, the President warned the peacekeepers to care their military techniques and arms in order to utilize them in any time.
Highlighting an importance to predict possible risks during the operations, the Commander-in-Chief expressed gratitude to Mongolian military officers and servicemen who are serving in peacekeeping operations with the UN mandate
