The Japan’s Prime Minister, Mr Shinzo Abe is paying an official visit to Mongolia, to attend the 11th ASEM Summit, being held here on July 15 and 16. He was welcomed today (July 14) at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport and the central square by FM L.Purevsuren and President Ts.Elbegdorj respectively.

According to the state protocol rules, Premier of the monarchic-parliamentary countries are acknowledged as the honored guests of the President of Mongolia.

After the welcoming ceremonies, President Ts.Elbegdorj and the Japan PM Shinzo Abe held official talks and tete-a-tete. During the official talks, the President expressed gratitude to Shinzo Abe for becoming the first PM of Japan to pay three visits to Mongolia.

President Ts.Elbegdorj underlined his satisfaction with the development in the bilateral relations under the strategic partnership, and noted the friendly relations with Japan is a priority in Mongolia’s foreign policy.

Also, Japan’s support, aid and assistance have been playing an important role in deepening reforms and laying the fundaments of modern development, he said. The support and assistance remain crucial for Mongolia, noted the President and said Mongolia is willing to maintain mutually beneficial and long-term economic partnership with Japan.

The latter noted that ERCH and ERCH Plus initiatives are being implemented successfully along with the medium term program on strategic partnership, and expressed deep gratitude to Mr Abe for attaching a special importance to relations with Mongolia.

This visit is of a great significance for stimulating the traditional friendly relations of Mongolia and Japan, consolidating the strategic partnership and maintaining the frequency of high-level dialogues.
