Baku, July 23 (AzerTAc). Baku Steel Company LLC has launched new state-of-the production areas after a major overhaul aimed at increasing the facility`s production capacity and export potential.
A solemn ceremony was held to inaugurate the production areas, which now feature state-of-the-art equipment made in the USA, France, Italy and Turkey.
It is remarkable that Baku Steel Company`s expanding its activity after major revamp coincides with the Year of Industry declared by President Ilham Aliyev.
Speaking at the ceremony, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Baku Steel Company LLC Rasim Mammadov said the company, which was the first steel making facility in the Caucasus region and the first private metallurgical plant in Azerbaijan, was put in operation 13 years ago with the blessing of national leader Heydar Aliyev. He said the company had manufactured 3.5 million tons of goods so far, adding more than one million tons of products was exported to foreign markets.
Siemens Regional Director Samir Akhundov, pro-rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, professor Mustafa Babanly, professor at the Catalysis and Non-Organic Chemistry Institute of ANAS Ikhtiyar Bakhtiyarli, founder of Turkish CVS Makina company Murat Karatek praised the application of advanced technologies in the plant. They hailed the major overhaul of the facility as a tremendous contribution to the Year of Industry, adding the plant will play an immense role in the development of the non-oil sector.
The ceremony featured demonstration of a promotional video highlighting the achievements of Baku Steel Company and reconstruction work.
This was followed by a ceremony to launch an arc furnace.
Participants of the event viewed the new equipment. They were informed that the reconstruction work at the plant was launched in 2012. The new equipment at the plant includes a 50-t electric arc furnace and a ladle furnace made by Siemens VAI, Continuous Casting Machine made by Canadian STEL-TEK, and other equipment made in the USA, France, Italy, Turkey, India and other countries.
A central laboratory, which meets international standards, was launched as part of the reconstruction work. It enables detailed results of updated tests and is equipped with precise and quality control instruments produced and certified in such advanced countries as Japan, Germany and Switzerland. The reconstruction work was carried out with participation of more than 500 Baku Steel Company engineers and technicians and over 20 local and foreign contactors.
The reconstruction work allowed the company not only to increase the volume of its products, but also expand the assortment of its goods.
Constantly developing the export policy Baku Steel Company sells its goods to Russia, Georgia and other countries.
Being in the list of non-oil sector manufacturers of Azerbaijan the company is among top tax-payers in the list.
