There is plenty of evidence that the mummifying of bodies was used not only in ancient Egypt, but also in Mongolia.
A mummified monk that was found last year’s February in the capital city of Mongolia, attracting big attention of the world. Later it has been determined the mummified body was belonged to a monk Tseveen-Arashiin Chultemjamts who lived some 200 years ago, and was called by folks as Old Geser Lama, some theologists said.
It was fascinated by scientists because the body has been mummified by another method which is completely different from the mummies of ancient Egypt. The ritual of mummifying bodies is still used in Mongolia. The Buddhist leader of Mongolia, 9th Jebtsundamba Khutuktu passed away in 2012 in Mongolia, and his body has been mummified under high secrecy. Some sources said the mummifying ritual has been continuing for three years now with participation of high-skilled monks and lamas. Even priests have not known about it yet. The sources claim that the ritual is being performed in the Gandantegchilen monastery in Ulaanbaatar.
