The National University of Mongolia (NUM) inaugurated its new library building on October 4. The inauguration ceremony was addressed by President Kh.Battulga, Acting Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports G.Chuluunbaatar and President of NUM Ya.Tumurbaatar.
President Kh.Battulga participated in the inauguration ceremony of a new monument symbolizing the NUM and visited the reading rooms, museum and NUM Brand shop at the new library. The President also signed the NUM’s memorial notebook which was opened in 1957 and has been signed by heads of state and honorary guests for 60 years.
At present, the library’s inventory comprises over 400 thousand paper and digital copies of books and publications. Moreover, the library incorporates a digital reading room where more than a thousand CDs, over two thousand master’s theses and access to 16 international online databases are available. With a capacity of serving 700 readers at a time, the brand new library also runs a modern book restoration laboratory. More than 50 librarians will be employed at the newly inaugurated library.
