The first Asian Ground Golf Tournament named after the Governor of Capital City was held at ‘Chingisiin Khuree’ camp.
This sport is suitable for knowledge workers, businesspeople, elderly people, as well as those who are in need of exercises. Its advantage is that it is easy to understand, doesn’t require designated ground and its equipment is affordable.
408 people from the UB districts, local areas and 12 foreign countries participated in the tournament. Chief Judge of the tournament was vice president of the National Ground Golf Association of Mongolia B.Bat-Ulzii. Tournament was held with 4 courses and 8 holes.
Athletes from over 20 countries play Ground golf, which was developed in Japanʼs Tottori Prefecture in 1982 and 12 countries’ athletes participated in this tournament.
“Even though numerous people play the sport in Mongolia, there are several shortcomings regarding the racket and other equipment. Therefore, we will try to assist with them” said Mr. Kazuo Sonoyama, head of the Japan Ground Golf Association.
Team from Arkhangai aimag took the first place with team result. Gold medals were awarded to B.Battuul in men’s singles category with 69 points and G.Erkhembayar in Women’s singles category with 74 points.
