A special stage for Universiade awarding ceremony will appear in Almaty. The winners of the Universiade 2017 will be awarded on Medal Plaza stage. According to organizers, the winners’ platform will be built at the Republic Square. Live broadcast of the competition will be organized on the stage and special tents at the square. In addition, the Square will turn into a platform of cultural events. Organizers say that each of the 11 days of the Universiade will be devoted to a special theme. Moreover, there will be children’s creative workshops, cinema and free Wi-Fi at the Medal Plaza. Visitors will be able to play Flappy Sunkar, meet famous Kazakh athletes in the tents. Kazakh singers will perform there and will also organize shows and the vocal competition ‘Voice of the Universiade’ among the visitors.

It is also planned to organize a number of cultural events throughout Almaty, in particular opera, ballet and theatrical performances, Kazakh national plays.

The organizers have also presented the medals the Universiade athletes will be awarded with. In total, there are 85 sets of medals in 12 sports. Gold and silver medals are made from 925 sterling silver. Gold medals are covered with half-gram gold layer. Both medals weigh 280 grams, and the weight of the bronze medal is about 200 grams.

The protocol part, namely awarding with medals, starts at 8.00 p.m. The medals are made according to the Universiade brand book. As the Universiade will be held in Almaty, we didn’t forget about the city’s new logo; the Winter Universiade’s slogan is written in three languages.
