The 33 year old Mongolia’s top long distance runner, Merit athlete of Mongolia Mr B. Ser-Od has won bronze medal setting a new record for the country at the Fukuoka International Open Marathon Championship.
Out of 575 runners who have completed the race, Kenyan athlete Patrick Makau, who is the former world record holder in the marathon, crossed the finish line first and runner from Ethiopia Raji Assefa has taken the second place.
The competition was held on Wednesday in Fukuoka city of Japan with participation of about 800 runners. Despite being in third place, Merit athlete of Mongolia had broken his personal record finishing the 42 km long race with the result 2 hours 8 minutes 50 seconds which is 10 seconds faster than the previous record.
He began participating in long-distance events in 2002 and had represented his country three times in the Olympic Games.
