Mongolian athletes won 25 medals in total (5 gold, 9 silver and 11 bronze) in 7 sports events at the 18th Asian Games, which was held in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2.
Mongolian team has been ranked at 16th out of 45 countries with its number of medals. Specifically, the athletes claimed two gold, one silver and three bronze medals in freestyle wrestling, one gold, one silver and one bronze in shooting, one gold and one silver in boxing, two silver and five bronze in judo wrestling, one gold and two silver in sambo wrestling, as well as two silver medals in kurash wrestling and one bronze in jiu-jitsu respectively.
China topped the 18th Asian Games with 289 medals followed by Japan (205) and the Republic of Korea (177).
In addition, Mongolian athletes had brought a total of 21 medals (5 gold, 4 silver and 12 bronze) at the 17th Asian Games held in 2014 in Incheon city, the Republic of Korea.
